does it matter? We are only off boost till 2k anything above that I am positive boost pressure. At 3k its walking away...at 4k its running.

my 83 and my 87 n/a 944's were dogs. I mean dogs in striaght line performance terms. I think I was hitting high 15's in the 1/4 with good tires and good launching. My 951 stock turned a 14.01. Thats a second in a half difference...and thats just a stock turbo with nothing done to it.


I have some video of my ex brother in law racing my 87 N/A vs me when I was stock and it was so ugly by 100 I just quit....he was already 15 cars behind me.

Is it really that bad to run 87 in a 951 and go full boost? I only run the highest, just curious.

You can get xylene at Sherwin Williams in 5 gallons, NOT tolene. They won't sell tolene in bulk because it is used in drug manufacturing. I am sure one of the punks on the list will tell us what the drug is.
I mix 33% xylene 66% 93 ron+mon/2.
Xylene is 117 octane - but the real benefit is flame front speed and energy content - much higher.
The 944 wedge head loves aromatic hydrocarbons such as these.
It is my opinion that my car is happier with 33% xylene than with VP 103 at loco-boost.
My 2.5 liter 472 RWHP mustang dyno run was with xylene/pump mix. There was no noise at 24 PSI and timing that would make your jaw hit the floor.

it was my understanding they were pretty much the same jim...do you think that xylene is better for our cars?

if so I would obviously just used that since they are both easy to purchase.

oh and btw 12 bucks a gallon for additive paint thinner is stupid...just stupid.

I can buy 101 for 5.30 a gallon and I can buy c16 full race fuel unleaded rated at 116 ocatane so pure it will burn your eyes for 9.00 a gallon.

Not same - similar.
Tolene has higher flame speed - xylene has higher octane.
Either one is awesome.
They are not cheap, either - this is no freebie.

yeah but 12 dollers a gallon is just crazy. I would never pay that. I would go buy striaght c16 race fuel for 9 bucks a gallon enjoy the unleaded drop in nature and have 116 octane fuel in the tank.


You would be crazy to pay any more than 5 bucks a gallon. I would just assume take my fuel container down the street and fill it up with 101 for 5.30 a gallon.

Btw I use 10% xylene on my car the gallon is $ 12.99 @ home depot.
