Andrew,
Two things scare me about that valve 1) Catching some road debris and winding up on the side like Ted, 2) Someone with ill intent and a couple moments alone with the car discovers/knows that valve is there!
Both justify my couple extra minutes and grumbling to fuss with an oil plug.

I like this setup for a quick drain coupling.

http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/aero4.htm

It's by Aeroquip but it's a pain to find a link to it on their site so I cheated a little bit.

And I wouldn't worry too much about malicious oil draining. If someone wants to do it bad enough it's nothing an adjustable open end wrench or pliers can't handle. They still have to reach under there which aint gonna happen without jacking it up or some other kind of under vehicle access.

That aeroquip "thingy" looks neat. Especially that "male-female coupling". Nothing like a XXX oil change to get one's motor running.

Heh, it's also about $25 bucks for each half of the set but you're right it is pretty sexy (in many ways).

Thanks, that was exactly what I needed. All fixed! The car runs great!

Ted,
When will you be swinging through Albany? Very interested in seeing your results.

I want my engine stand!

I was actually going to head down tonight, but my better judgment will not allow me to drive the car that far until I put a few miles on it around town! I will be down in the next few days, though. I will give you a call. Thanks again, bro!
