Have you wiggled the shaft on the turbo? Youll feel axial play thats enough to hit the housing, you dont have to remove the turbo just the J-Boot.

theedge: I didn't do that on the turbo that was on there. i did that on the "new" turbo and felt some play. I am just going to have the "new" one installed. If this doesn't help I am hoping someone will be interested in purchasing the car or it's parts.

I kind of suspect electrical either in the hardware
or software. Just because the guy doing your install
is experience does no mean that he knows everything.
Just like visiting a doctor. Sometimes it is good to seek
for a second opinion. Besides, the Wolf 3D is also new
to him & there could be a slight hitch in the wiring or
programming .

J Chen: The Wolf3D is not new to the guy. He has it installed in his 968 turbo racecar as well as some other local 944 turbo racecars. I would say he is pretty experienced with the unit. Why else would Dave at LR get the units from him? This is the guy distributing/developing the Wolf3D for LR.

tedwright: CCW's are hot.

Sorry to hear about your issues with your car. I know that when they are not running properly it can be extremely frustrating and expensive.

I had a similar problem that was traced to my blow-off valve. Mine is adjustable. It can be soft or hard. If it is set too soft I’ll experience the issue that you are having. It higher revs the turbo was producing more boost that masked the problem. Good Luck ed

ewainwright: If it is the blow off valve I will be so pissed off. A waste of money on a new turbo that wasn't needed.

Any offers from anyone on the car? If you have an idea of what you would like to pay for some of the parts please let me know. This way I can have an idea of what to expect before taking the car apart. I wouldn't want to do this and then have no one interested.

One more diagnostic question –
What happens if you get up to 4500 -5000 rpm (not using boost) and then floor it? (this could take you out of a surge area).

Chris White: I was on the highway at 3500 RPM cruising around and would down shift and then floor it I didn't get any of this fluttering. I had mentioned that it would pull very strong.

Basically I am tired of the car. I could have spent the recent money spent toward a nice trip to Paris and the 24 Hours of LeMans. I would have enjoyed that much more than I have enjoyed the car.

Would $8000 be too much to ask for this car? I mean the car runs it's just this fluttering issue that needs to get resolved. With my luck it is something so simple that when I sell it the next person would spend a minimal amount of money to get it going. Remember I am done spending another dime on this car.

1) It is starting to sound more like a compressor surge.
2) $8000 is a pretty good price – I would consider it but you are the opposite coast!
3) I am interested in the Wheels – how much for the CCW’s?

$8k seems low. Even with the issues, I would think it worth more.

Chris White: What exactly is compressor surge? Sorry for the stupid question. I am going to try to sell the car as a whole package. If I have no takers I will start to look at parting it out. You are 2nd on the list for the wheels. I'll try to keep up with who is interested in what.

streckfu's951: I had initially thought $10,000 for the car but I wasn't sure if that would be doable.
