Default What's the bolt size ?

What is the bolt size for the screw in tow hook opening in the front of the car?

I need to build the front tow ring but don't know the bolt size to weld on.

TIA

I could be wrong, but I dont think the thread is a standard bolt. And my guess is that it is also metric, so it would be very hard to find a metric bolt that big at a local hardware store (impossible if its not standard thread).

You are probably better off buying a tow hook outright. I know Paragon has them for about $15, and I wouldnt be surprised if you cant get one through the dealer. I know that some 911s come with a tow hook in the tool kit, but not positive its the same thread.

I went to a welding & fabricating shop to see if I could have some tow hooks made. They told me the threads were metric, but also that the threads had rounded edges and that they would not be able to duplicate them. Bottom line, buy one like you did. It's easier than cutting a slot in the bumper cover and bolting one to the bumper itself, only not quite as "pretty".

I can let you know when I get it.

I'm guessing it's at least an M15, I had up to M12 bolts and they were way too small.

I fabbed a nice setup for the rear bumper using some 5000 pound D-rings and nomex 5000 pound webbing. Figured the front bumper would just use the existing mount. I don't like the little ring so I'll probably weld a big D-ring to the threads.
