camber plate snapped!
Hey guys, I heard a crack from my engine bay, and my camber plate has snapped! I have the escort cup series system with the lindsey racing camber plates. To top it off it looks like one of the bolts is ripping right through the strut mount bodywork! Then to top it off I drive the 5 miles to get the damn thing home and my passenger side rear shock dropped the bolt that connected it to the arm. Anybody else have this happen to them. Any help? if not maybe a little pity?

Just out of curiousity, which camber plates are those? Are they the same as the Paragon/Ground Controls or are they the red Weltmeister plates?
------
EDIT: I just checked Lindsey's site and they don't appear to be the same camber plates as the Paragon/Ground Controls. They look very similar but they do not have the caster adjustment.

"Lots of pity...
I would suggest posting nothing more on this issue until you talk to Lindsey."
Even more pity. Contact LR ASAP. See what they have to say. They have always been good to me. Did you install all of the equip yourself, or did someone else?
After contacting appropriate people, please come back here and lambaste their worthless butts! Glad no one got hurt.

Hey guys, I talked to Dave and it seems my mechanic installed my plates improperly. (im thrilled about this, by the way). At least it looks like it won't take much time or money to fix. Thank for everyone's help

After hearing your description of the camber plate and the rear shock bolt, the first thing that came to mind was poor/improper installatoin.
Get a new mechanic and go over the entire installation again. The last thing you need is for anything to fail at speed.

Sam, that is exactly what I thought as well, but I wanted to know to be certain. I will be installing ground controls and they are similar in design. I don't want to repeat his mistakes.
I will say, you have to be an absolute moron to install them on top. Especially, given how the factory mount sits. I apologize to any of you that have already done this.
I just reread his first post and it said it "dropped" the rear bolt. That is a little wierd.

The difference is the car. It doesn't matter how camber plates for other cars are installed. It's how the camber plate should be installed for THIS car.

944 camber plates are installed on the bottom of the strut tower. Not on top.

Yes my rear shock did throw the bolt. I have read of other occasions where this has happened with these and other coilover rear shocks. By the way since you'd have to be an absolute moron to install the plates wrong. I suppose you are calling me a moron for not noticing right?

I never notice, anyway
