A local mechanic fitted my tial, havent had anything in the way of boost control since it was fitted, got it up on axle stands today and had a look, i reckon it is installed wrongly, if you look at the pic it is the crossover pipe coming out to the left and the exhaust dump coming out the bottom, as far as im aware this is incorrect and the pipes should be the other way round, the tial is fitted just now with the top of it pointing up to the sky. Is it installed incorrectly? soory for pic quality!!!

my side port on the tial is facing 180 deg out to the one in that pic, my crossover pipe is definetely going in the side and the dump out the bottom which is incorrect, looking at that pic the tial must sit higher than the stock wastegate as it looks like the small pipe has been swivelled 90deg so that it fits onto the bottom of tial and the dump pipe must be swivelled as well so that it fits side port. The mechanic said that he changed position of adapter plates and that the install was relatively easy, i know from others on rennlist that it is a major PITA to make the tial fit so it must have been easy because it is wrong!!

Yes, it is much easier to install the Tial wrong…
The Tial operates the opposite way from the stock ‘gate – the Valve opens inward on the Tial and outward on the stock unit. This means that the flow direction has to be opposite also. If installed incorrectly the wastegaste will oscillate under boost and you won’t be able to control the boost level.

I wondering if the TIAL is a direct bolt on. I have the stock wastegate connected to Lindsey's 3" exhaust.
Would I need to modify anything to make it fit the WG tie-in on the exhaust?

Will it fit the WG tie-in on the exhaust, like the stock WG does?

Yes it will.

As long as your stock WG fits the exhaust (without modifiying either), the Tial adapters will bolt right up.

I found my TiAL had been assembled with the seal pinched between the two parts of the housing, so it was almost certaintly leaking. That explains why it wanted to run 1.5bar with a 0.8 bar spring in it...
I have now discovered that the TiAL official agent in the UK is absolutely worthless. When they finally got back to me after getting TiAL in the US to chase them twice they wanted £50 + tax and shipping for a seal to replace the one that was damaged by incorrect assembly by TiAL! Come to think of it I might have let them get one in from the US for me with no intention of ordering it since I carefully reseated the original one after reshaping it in hot water - oops

That sounds right Chris i cannot control the boost level, when i first tested it i was hitting approxiametely 18psi of boost then it would dump it down to around 10psi and when i changed gear i wasnt getting any boost at all until i let off the accelerator then put my foot down gradually again, i am not now running car until i get the wastegate installed correctly, otherwise my car is running better than it has for the last couple of years so am desperate to get the tial installed correctly
