oooh the can system. fascenating how that works. I had someone at work give me a brief rundown of it.

Porsche use's fiber optics in all of the current models and used it in the 986 and 996. The major system is the MOST system. All of the "infotainment" systems are fiber optic. That includes radio's, CD players/changers, navigation systems and amplifiers. Control information is sent through the car over the MOST. If the signal is lost everything will stop working after about 20 minutes or less.

Of course this is all tied into the CAN system as well. It can get a little confusing at first to say the least.
