Default Cam Woodruff Key

Update: Thanks for all the suggestion. I used the digional cutters with a little penetrating oil and it came out with a little force.

Thought this would be easy to remove, but its turning out to be a killer. I've tried needle nose pliers like clarks garage suggests. I also tried clamping visegrips to it and pulling out on it with no success. I searched about this, and there isnt that much info so I assume it shouldnt be that hard. Any suggestions?

I used wire cutters. Get a good bite, and leverage down off the front of the camshaft.

When using wire cutters, should I try to pull straight out or use it and push down to get it out?

Grab the end of the key and just push down on the handles of the pliers. Itll at like a lever on the shaft and lift the key right out.

Hello,

Put some penetrating lubrication on it.
Then see if you have access to some sort of Freon to spray on it.
This will lower the temperature and the 'reverse' thermal expansion will loosen the key from the shaft. Grab it with the wire cutters.

Use the diagonal cutters approach it on a horizontal plane by squeezing on the key there by forcing it up
I just pulled 2 of these off and they came out with relative ease.
Also push the cam gear back while trying to pull the cam shaft forward affording you a little more room
good luck
regards
Ed
