Yeah European schooling is much better! We have to learn French and German, but not to a high level, though I did pick up a few words of both when I lived in Germany. Gruppe951 is a very honourable group indeed...

Olli Snellman: "I am sure Lindsey set up is a good one. They make very good produtcs.Only negative thing with the solid lifters is adjust valve lash. I have done this with some Saab engines and this procedure (Lindsey uses the same procedure as Saab) is not the nicest one. INA lifters were designed over 20 years ago, so don't blame them so hard"

Exactly my point, 20 yrs ago! As I stated over and over again my friend, "current quality control" is horrible. Not from 20 yrs ago, but "now"... And I have alot of "empiracl data" to back it up too.

Do you have access to the SPC control charts for the lifters from the production line? All you know is that LR lunched three sets on a cam they were tyring.

You have a lot of "empriacl" data to suggest your solid lifter design is not the nicest one? Cool.

I don't think going to solids is a bad thing. Sure there is going to be more mechanical noise and that adjustment every now and then, but we already spend countless hours in are cars anyway in to make them faster, so this should not be a problem. The set up is very reliable so abjusment should be minimal.

Regards,
AL

AL951: Bump dude! And I know, for I have solids now on my car, and it won't be a big deal at all.

I've been adusting valves for yrs on various street and dirt 4-storke bikes that I've raced. It's no big deal at all. Actually, I checked mine when I was at the Lindsey shop. We took off an inspection port and then put the feeler guage in there. It took a total of what, like 10 minutes to check the clearance? Now since the engine is new and the clearances we're already set, we didnt have to adjust them. But, the inspection ports make it a snap to check.

I've owned a few Ferraris in my life time too. And let me tell you, when you go in for that 15K & 30K mile check up, you get hit with a huge big. Why? It really has to do with adjusting the valves on these cars - and most are 4 vavle heads. Multiple that by 8 or 12 cylinders and you have alot of valves to check and adjust. And it's not done on the fly too, so to speak. First, they don't have inspection ports, and secondly, the amount of labor to get to them and adjust them is incredible. On average, you're looking at a $5K to $10K bill for the entire job. Talk about high maintenance? Wow...

Probably a bad question but how exactly are the valves adjusted withsolids and the 8V head? Every other car I've owned had a true valve cover. Does the cam tower get modified somehow to get a step gauge in there?

Edit: Never mind I just saw you have a website with a pic of the side ports on the tower...looks good.
