There are several people (including myself) that would be willing to go check it out for you. I believe Rusnak / Westside can do it also:

Porsche-O-Phile: I called Rusnak yesterday and they no longer do PPIs on cars they do not sell. The car I am looking at his been looked at by a few on the 993TT board. Thanks for the offer though.

I'm not doubting it - I just think it's ridiculous. What does it gain 'em? Do they honestly think that people are going to go "geez, I can't get that PPI on the $8,000 951 or $12,000 911 I was considering. . . I guess I'll go right down to the dealer and buy a new 911 for $70,000". It's just dumb. Their loss. Like I said, I'll check with Circle Porsche down here in Long Beach. They're usually VERY good to me although I speak more of the parts guys than the service dep't.
I've only dealt with the service dep't once and I was less than impressed, so I don't know what kind of grief they'll give me over doing a PPI. Idiot wanted to charge me $150 to do nothing other than vaccum out and leak-test an a/c system. That's it. Costs usually about $50 or so.
Anyway, I'll check. If not, you might try Pacific Porsche over in Torrance. When I first got my 944 I took it there for a belt inspection / tensioning (this is before I had the tools or expertese to DIY). They were a bit snooty with the "not a real Porsche" attitude, but that might've just been the particular guy I dealt with. Worth a call, anyway - all the dealer #s are on Porsche's web site.

Sorry but I don't know the 993TT at all. Also, although I live in Thousand Oaks, I do hardly any business there because I am in San Fernando Valley during normal business hours. I would trust TRE Automotive in North Hollywood and NARW in Reseda, both racers who have excellent shops. The Reseda shop is thirty minutes from T.O. and worth the drive and time if you can arrange it. Klaus is the owner.

TRE is outstanding and does a lot of work on all kinds of Porsches. Good call. I can't believe I didn't think of them - I went on their New Year's Day drive this year and everything! I haven't seen NARW, but I've heard good things. . .

Check out

Ask for Mike. I've had a couple good experiences with him. He came highly recommended from a mechanic friend of mine.
