Vitesse for the piggy back and zeitronix for the wb02 and datalogger.

i went tech edge http://www.wbo2.com/ an eprom burner instead of a piggyback http://xtronics.com/memory/EPROM.htm.
A bit cheaper and you end up with less electronics in the car.

Hally, that is assuming that someone knows how to and what code to change on the eprom.

The Montronic Editor is free and illustrates the location of fuel and timing maps, download it here:

Just like you would with a piggyback, start with small changes.

Hally, where do you order chips and what brand/model/type?

Thanks for the burner information. Did you need or do you use any accessories?

http://www.futurlec.com/

Do a search for 2732 or 2764 ( Newer DMEs used the 2764). Around $5 each.

Thanks. So for a 28pin DME you'd use 2764-200ns?

Beab951, did you mean 27C64, or are the 2764 eproms equiviliant, anyway the ones i used were 27C64G and came from JDR (28pin). They had a programming voltage of 21v and struggled to get them to program after about half a dozen erases so there are probably better choices, still with 3 of them that was plenty of iterations and i got the job done fine. At the end of the day go with Beabs advice, he knows electronics and helped me out researching the 27C64G at the time.

The 27C64 is a CMOS version of the 2764 memory IC. Both the 2764 and the 27C64 will work. The 27C64 has the advantage of using less power and has a lower programming voltage (12.5VDC). The link to futurlec has both of them in stock. Given a choice, I would pick the 27C64.

Rephrasing my old question, do you recommend the faster chips vs. the 'slower' chips? In the case of the 27C64 we're talking 120ns vs 150ns vs 200ns, all of which are damn fast and probably more than the DME requires.

Edit: And what about EEPROM options?

Way to hijack a thread guys!

@ cgmonster, I went for the LR mafterburner and uego WBO2 and I'm happy, except for the one drawback that I can't datalog boost too. It'd be nice to be able to show that against the other features the Mafterburner has to offer, but it doesn't make it any harder to tune.

Once you have a piggyback computer is it even necessary to burn different chips?

I think the conversation went from 'what piggybacks are good' to 'how to not need a piggyback'.

Mark - Piggybacks are good, burned chips are better.
