I asked the person to send me pictures of the VIN plate but I doubt we will ever see them. If it was really something different you would think they would have a mass of the pictures of the items that were different.

Guy is a ****ing crook.
No way you don't go to extreme measures to verify that you have a unique Porsche. If you have an 86 prototype, you are going to prove it.
Claiming ignorance aint gonna cut - he's full of ****.

sorry guys if you have got it wrong, this car is not one of the first 951. It is produced one year after the launch of 951. It is produced 06/86 as 87 model.
It's a prototype in those terms that it has some strange options and parts which were not not used in 951 that year (at least for european models), like airbags and ABS, 6 way electrical driver seat, seat heating + inner cover of glove compartment is aluminium! (maybe for testing airbag?), the inner layer of the windscreen is elastic (beacuse of airbag, they probably though there will be glass chips in the car when the airbag blows out), the headers are 4-1 (I have never seen on a 951). From the copies of German documents it is possible to see, that the car has belonged to Porsche AG until 1997. It was first registered in 06/1986 in Weissach.

Thanks for trying to clarify. It is an early 87. Could you post the corrected VIN?
FWIW, the early prototypes have single piston front calipers, early style dash, 15" wheels, etc. Since yours has none of those it was quite obviously not a prototype. It could be one of the earliest 87s around though.

Nice car, but 310 km that's quite a bit 17.400 CAN.$ i don't know if it's worth that.
Somebody tell me what is so special about that car that will make the price go up?
A cup car that's a different story you will get you're money back and some.

I also have one of two original 951 prototypes, but it needs some restoration (a few missing parts no big sweet) Great for a collector. The car is located in watts, California in an desolated alley if you are interested you can pick it up at your own risk.

Yes Lart - here is the missing Derek Bell test car - found after 15 years in climate controled storage. Prisitine condition. Private party, please.
Only noticeable flaw is a very small fissure in the dashboard.

Man, the car in the ad is obviously worth it, did you see the aluminum on the inside of the glove compartment door. That's gotta at least double the value of the car. I mean come on, it's an original Porsche aluminum glove compartment door liner!!! Of all the unusual things on the car, that's what he takes a special picture of. Ok, the seats are covered in weird material but considering the condition they are in and the mileage, that is probably not the original fabric. And who knows if they are factory headers or some other weird thing hacksawed and welded to fit. Not like we can see em or anything. But man that aluminum glove box door liner, that really makes the car. :0
