How bad is the oil pan gasket?

Oh I plan on fixing it right, I actually just put the order in for everything I need (gasket/myswiss retainers, rod bearings/nuts, spare pan for oil temp+baffel) Next is the Lindsey x-over/x-member and she will be ready to go under the knife.
Still was worth a shot so when I do actually drive it leaks less all over my x-over...

Our oil pan gasket retainers will only work with a new gasket. It will basically stop the gasket from bulging and stop the leaks that follow.
You can count on 6 hours to do it right.

Dino oil will indeed reduce leakage, but that's a result of its poorer lubrication ability - I'd deal with oil drips and run the oil that better protects the engine. I'd certainly never switch back to dino.

I'm using Valvoline 20W50 like JWL. Dino juice worked for decades. We all know that syn lubes better, but with old/leaking seals & gaskets, there is such a thing as lubricating too well. That's just my stance as a temporary band-aid to a problem that will be addressed. I'm not trying to get into a syn vs dino debate. I switched due to oil leaking onto my crossover. Whatever the loss in lubrication, it can't be as bad as a fire from an oil leak onto exhaust (however remote that possibility is). Plus, it smelled nasty.
