I'm in wholehearted agreement with the others who would say the cars are just too different, or would like to have both. I get that it can be fun to debate the merits of one car or another but this turns into a goat rodeo most times. Lots of commotion. Fun for no one.

If you truly love cars, why would you want one to win over another? This is like picking your favorite child. There's a long list of cars that we should all appreciate for various reasons.

A Supra Turbo is one of those cars that we should all be so lucky to have. The ridiculous amount of power that platform can generate is just too much fun not to love it.

Maybe we can make this more fun (and positive). I know this theme pops up every once in a while but it's always fun and there are always new people who've never played.

So what would your dream garage look like? Logic need not apply. Or pick 5 cool cars that you don't think most people know about.

I'd go with the Audi Ur Quattro, BMW 3.0 CSL, the old 80's BMW M5, Benz 190e-16V, Toyota AE86.

How 'bout the Ford Anglia (although they used it in Harry Potter so people probably recognize it) or the Triumph TR-250. My uncle had a VW fastback and my grandfather had a VW squareback. Fun cars all

Supra, hands down. The 951 is a great car but it is aging and to make big numbers costs big dollars. The Supra has creature comforts, is a great daily driver and making 400 HP costs nearly nothing. With the proper wheels/tires it handles as well as the 951 on the track, though it is "slower" feeling because of the weight. Then again 1000 RWHP helps you forget about the weight in a jiffy.

I'v always enjoying debating which car is best even when its a car I'v never owned or have intenion of owning. When it comes to comparing my car to another I might have bought it becomes to me justification of my choices, I have to really re-think... do I really honestly prefer my car and why?! Would I stick with my car if I was offered a swap (ignoring value) . I like doing this and I still prefer my 944 to anything I can think of for under $35,000 (£20,000 in my language).

As for a dream garage...

F40,
1998 993turbo S,
Gallardo,
Audi S4 (the 2.7 bi turbo with 600hp conversion)
1991 Mini Cooper RSP special

I think this comparo is just not a comparo at all. First Surpa TT and 951 are from different eras. 7 to 8 years of development do make a difference. The 951 should be compere to there 80's copetition. like the 300ZX turbo, RX-7 turbo, Mitsubishi Starion turbo, and toyota supra turbo. That would be a more of a comparison. A little footnote, have you guys ever wonder why in the 80's sanddenly most of the japonese sport cars like the starion/conquest,RX-7 and supra started to look the 944?.... they say that immitation is the sinceerst form of flatety.

I think part of the allure of these cars depends on what generation you grew up in. Today, many baby boomers are paying small fortunes for muscle cars and it’s not because of the technology and performance these cars deliver. They’re buying these cars to re-capture a piece of their youth. For those that grew up in the 80’s, the 944 Turbo serves this purpose despite any advantages the Supra might have. From this perspective, the two cars really aren’t that different assuming you grew up in the 90’s idolizing the Supra.

For me, there’s no substitute but 951S with a freshly installed Vitesse Stage III kit!!

"paying small fortunes for muscle cars and it’s not because of the technology and performance these cars deliver. "

And they are putting them on the dyno and it is almost sad to see their faces when the big block muscle car of their dreams puts down 310 at the wheels, when they swear it has 500hp!!

Big low end torque makes any car feel like 500hp.

Different HP rating. They do have 500HP just not 500HP on the dyno. They also have incredibly ineffcient drivetrains.

I would give my left nut for a 1968.5 Shelby GT500KR with 428 Cobra Jet.

3rd Gen RX7s are one of the most beautiful cars ever built, however, they are as reliable as a Yugo. You are ready to own an RX7 when you have the cash to have a spare motor built and ready to install at all times. They have motor and turbo problems. I have had a number of them and I LOVE them. When looking for a new car it always crosses my mind.

Maybe its because I am not the only person on this board or others that see's value in both cars.

You can leave me out of your punch lines from now on. Both cars are extremely different and both other things or expeirences that the other can't.

If someone can't see why the supra is amazing and why the 951 is amazing then they fall to see what I see. Its that way with most things though. People want to believe they drive the best...that their car is the best. Or only beaten by something with a outlandish price tag.

I am a car lover. In general I am. I can find something I like in any sports car...I dont care what the badge says. That being said have fun with the debate. I am tired of people telling me what is and isint possible with the supra when they have no ****ing personal expeirence with the car at all.

Would you take advice from someone who never owned a 951 but, his neighbor had one? Hell no. You want someone with direct personal expeirence. I guess thats what the thread starter was asking for. People who have owned each car or one of the two. He just wants to know their opinion.

Most people though are biased and can't see the beauity in both. So they just say whatever car they own is the best. In truth both are great cars and other very different expeirences.

my .02 cents. You can take it or leave it
