I didn't realize the AVC-R only displayed kg/cm2, definitely makes me glad I went with the Blitz now (it does all three: PSI, BAR, kg/cm2).

The AVCR is horrible at holding boost at the setting you desire. It's also huge and ulgy but thats beside the point. Apexi is launching new electronics in Nov so hopefully they will have fixed things. Right now the Blitz is the best EBC on the market right now IMO.

That's one thing that I do like about the Blitz, it holds boost really well. I can set it for 16psi, and 99.9% of the time it will never go over 16.5psi, and combined with my Lindsey DP wastegate my boost curve is perfectly flat all the way to redline in 4th.

Aaaaarrrrggggghhhhhh! I was hoping this thread would help me decide, but now I even deeper in a quandry. Maybe I should just flip a coin or buy whichever I can get cheapest. They both seem to be excellent systems and each has its advantages/disadvantages. I'd have to buy an engine harness for the Blitz if I wanted separate gear boost, but I have to get a converter from Danno to use the duty cycle option on the AVC-R. BTW - Does the Blitz allow for this?

How is the AVC-R "horrible" at holding boost?

Mine works perfectly at any boost level I set it at. You just have to take the time to set it RIGHT. Even when I had a leaky IC hose it took me a little while to notice b/c the AVC-R compensated and automatically made adjustments to hold boost at the setting I programmed it for. It just takes more time to set set-up then the other EBC's on the market. When you first start with the gear based learning function the boost will fluctuate ~2-3psi near where you set it at but after a few runs it wil gradually settle down as it "learns" a good duty cycle curve.

The kg/cm2 isn't a problem for me because I have a separate pillar mount boost gauge anyway.

The Blitz will do boost by speed, BUT you have to buy their Power Meter:
http://www.blitz-na.com/Blitz_RMonitor_Powerid.htm
to get that function. Personally, I don't really see the point of boost by gear/speed unless you are making way 400RWHP or more.

I may be getting rid my of AVC-R if anyone is interested. To be quite honest I'm sick of the 18 miles of wiring I have going to my DME/KLR as well as the clutter of having half-a-dozed bulky electronic devices stored in my cabin. I'm not sure what the AVC-R is worth but I picked it up a couple years ago and and is in great shape. If anyone's interested fire me a fair offer and It'll be yours if I decide to let it go.

Jeremy, I paid 250 shipped for mine used a while ago. Ironically, the person I bought it from is the same guy who ended up installing it

The unit fits in the arm rest with a little cutting (which is then covered), I didnt like the idea of having it mounted where Ricer X and his posse could see it.

Matt,

Yeah, that's where I have mine as well. It's stuffed in there with my WB 02 and SMT-6. Are you running yours in dual or single port configuration?

Single but "running" is a misnomer, car hasnt moved in years. Do you have the second actuator, etc? If so I would be happy to buy it off of you. I just dont see spending the 70+ dollars that APEX wants for it.

Matt-
Where can you buy the second solenoid to run dual port? I have an AVC-r I bought off of David Floyd a while back and if the car ever goes back on the road it has a LR dual port wastegate and I may as well take advantage of that.

Jeremy, I may be interested. I need to check on a couple of things and I'll let you know. I must admit, it's a little scary that people here are wanting to sell (or have already sold) theirs.

OS - call one of the ricer shops, they all have them. Any APEX dealer should also have them. In NY, there might even be an APEXi distributor.

Like anything, you can always find someone unhappy with it or just wanted to try something else.

Will the Blitz work with the stock wastegate (single port)?
