Default KLR error code tester

I know you can use the diagnostics plug, but I'm looking at hardwiring one into the cockpit from the KLR. Does anyone know which wires to go to? (I could pull the grommet apart under the plug, but if someone knows already).

TIA

On the '89, there should be a round 19 pin plug under the dash near the DME/KLR, thats the one you are talking about right? Its where they plug the Bosch Hammer tool into, and it reads all sorts of codes and does a number of adjustments, is this what you are talking about? Or are you talking about just getting an LED to "flash" the codes at you?

Regards,

I think hes talking about the diag plug thats in the engine bay, by the fusebox/fuel vapor purge.

That one I know about. The wiring goes off to the KLR (obviously), and I can pick out the 5 wires from the plug to the KLR from the wiring diagrams, But without ripping apart the grommet under the diag plug, I can't tell which two out of the five wires I need to tap.

Mike, go to the LR site, under "tech articles" they have the cheapomatic blinker(radio shack) and which ports to use.

I've run the signal wire from the diagnostic port into my gauge panel so I can still see blink codes after deleting the CV. Hurry up and do it -= I want to see if someone else gets the light coming on over about 13 psi !!
