Gratuitous Race Clip
Had a GREAT weekend at CMP, with the rebuilt engine running strong, everything in the green, and no leaks. WooHoo. After working non-stop since early January on the rebuild and on fixing my F-ups since the reinstall, its nice to have the car running strong again.
Here's a look at the first lap of Sunday's race

YEE HAW!! Looks like a great time. You seemed very competitive, speed wise. Did you win that race?

The 944Cup runs under NASA, which means two races each weekend. Saturday's race ran in monsoon conditions, and I started at the back of the pack. Managed to sneak up to the lead largely because of the number of guys who were spinning off. Sunday was clear and dry. Won both races.

CMP = Carolina Motorsports Park, in South Carolina, south of Charlotte.
Daniel, I've got the whole race and other races, but didn't want to hog bandwidth here with that stuff. The serious [and talented] guys like Norm G, Cory F, Lee K and others post the hot race tapes. 944SuperCup is stock [PCA or SCCA spec] 944T/944S2/968 cars with weights set to normalize performance. Its great fun AND highly competitive, but a little slower and more graceful than the factory race car series.

That was a nice lap Tony and congrats on the two wins. What is the closest race to Indy? I would like to check it out sometime. How big was the Super Cup field?

OK, I'll get some more clips posted for you race-starved 944/T bigots.
CMP was my first race this season [missed 18 Feb VIR date - my engine was not quite back in the car]. Let me dig out some juicy bits from last season.
Brake squeal? This was the first lap of the race. Cold brakes, cold tires. One of the tricks of racing is figuring out what you can get away with while the important stuff is still dead cold!
The rest of the footage from this race is pretty boring. There are no other race action until the backmarkers start to show up, and those passes are fairly dull to watch.
Edman,Its a fairly clunky camcorder on an IO Port mount. The mount needs to be as 'closed up' as you can get it. Extend the arm any distance and it shakes like a beatch.
Max, the 944Cup schedule this season includes events at CMP [done], VIR, Summit Point and Watkins Glen. Schedule and more details at The 944Cup Site

Here's proof that I actually do my own pit work.
I left the car on jack stands to run into town for a quick errand. Torrential rain fell, and the sandy ground at CMP washed out the standing. I arrived back to find this mess a few minutes before qualifying on Saturday. Needless to say, I missed qualifying and started at the back of the pack for Saturday's rain-soaked race. Ugly!
