"Open the DME connector to gain access to the back of the pins"

easy cheesy.
I'll do that tom.

I have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.
I have the stock chips, but I think the welts would give more fuel than the stock ones.

thanks guys!

They will, but you have to crank up the pressure to deliver it.

I was wondering why Dinan leaned out the PT maps. Thanks TT.
No problem. The way they left the top end alone makes them run really rich under load, but on these cars that is not necessarily a bad thing.

"but on these cars that is not necessarily a bad thing."

Except about now with the price of gas.

"to test the voltage, will it be 0-5 volts? going up or going down? does it change with the a/f or with the throttle?"

Check the output voltage of the AFM as well. You can hook in to AFM input (line#7, green/red-stripe wire). Should read around the following:

idle: 0.79-0.89v
45mph/3rd-gear/3000rpm steady-speed: 1.9-2.1v

On some cars, reducing the idle volage actually increases fuel, because the next data-cell down has more fuel programmed in it.

no.
jesus christ himself couldn't get this piece of **** to run.

now with both ends plugged in:
red 7 black 5 while running:
1 volt at idle and fluently up from there.

as for pushing in the barn door
red 7, black 5 just with ignition on:
.25 volts at idle and fluently up to 4.5 volts when the barn door is fully open.

it was bogging down at the 2000 -3000 range still

Any chance someone in Seattle can loan you a DME to test with? Perhaps something is screwy with it.
