Axle differences
I am interested in purchasing stronger axles for the '86 track car. Lindsey Racing sells some that are for '87 and later cars. Dave checked and told me that the only difference between '86 and '87 is length.
I have several '86 axles and the shafts measure 21-1/4" long. I removed the axles from my '87 daily driver and they are also the same length! They were installed by a prominent Phoenix shop. So, did someone install the wrong axles or are they really the same?
Does anyone have an '87 or later axle to measure and post here so that I can determine the difference?
Thanks.

The wheel offset was changed in 87.
To achieve the different offset, the front control arms were lengthened and the spindle angle changed. In the rear, the trailing arm was also lengthened and so were the stub axels.
