Yeah I have the Escort cup suspension front and rear but I left my torsion bars in beacause I heard they were a pain to remove and reindex. Anyway I lowered the rear as much as possible so the car pretty much rest on the rear springs but there is no preload on the springs because of that. This setup pretty much makes the rear end very progressive going from 150lb spring rate to 500lb spring rate. As for having old shocks laying around I have my old Koni rears and Sachs front struts.

Glad to hear you're ok, Claus! I thought I was going to have remove the SS brake lines you sold me and have them bronzed in your honor. Anyway, they're still holding fluid.

(I bought these lines from Claus off of ebay and picked them up at his house and got to check out all his interesting cars and projects. I think he could build a 951 out of a hunk of steel, four tires and some chewing gum! Very impressive some of the fabrications he's done.)

Eyal, let me know if you ever want to go race around the canyons. Are you running 18psi with a basically stock suspension? How much power are you making? I would love to see what that feels like--I've only got 13psi and minimal mods.

We can surely go on a run, but I don't push it in the canyons anymore. Havent crashed my own car, but passenger in one that did... hard. Seen to much, and now I track, so I have no desire to... as soon as i get all the things i just bought for my car on, we'll do it.

Can you explain further? It sounds like you leave the band clamp off of the small end of the CVJ boot. I know that this allows heat generated expanded air to excape. Were you blowing the boots or the bearings?

I exploded the bearing cage and that got ground into the bearing races, tearing the bearing apart and throwing the ***** onto the track. The only thing salvagable is the boot.

Thanks, Claus

Claus,
Nevermind. :-) You are correct - I was blowing boots. I've never seen a joint go before the boot. That's amazing!
