Test procedure for the 951 aux water pump
Can anyone describe a useful test procedure for the turbo-only auxiliary water pump (951.606.130.01) that runs a while after ignition shut down to increase the life of the turbocharger? I hear it either is draining the battery or is dead and no good.

First, disconnect the pump connector near the brake master cylinder. Attach a voltmeter set at 12 volts to the pin and socket in the connectorattached to the wire harness. Remove the connector on the temperature sensor located inboard of the throttle valve. Ground that connector with a short wire or small screwdriver. If the meterindicates 12 volts for about 30 seconds, the fuse and relay are functioning properly and the pump is defective.
With no voltage, check the fuse first, then replace the relay.
