Default Which bypass coolant hoses to buy with no turbo waterpump?

Well, due to an oil leak, I'm about to pull the turbo off again. Last time I did this, I switched to an aftermarket turbo that wasnt water cooled. I just plugged one of the hoses. I think when I have it all apart this time, I will put in an NA expansion tank and delete the hose that went to the pump. Can someone tell me all the stuff I need to buy to do this? I just need to know which hose it is. The Lindsey racing picture is sort of unclear, and that's where I was going to order them from.

get the block off plate or part for the turbo thermostat and a hose from the upper left radiator opening to the NA expansion tank. You might be able to find one locally, 90° bend and then long enough to get to the expansion tank - LR does have the parts.

I guess I'll try phoning them on Monday and try to talk with them about it. Maybe they'll have the block off plate as well.

Mike, did you get my reply?

I have a spare one here after I do the water pump tomorrow as the WP kit comes with one. Also, you dont need a 90 degree bend to get to the expansion tank. its closer to 45. I just went to the local car parts store, asked to see their radiator hoses and looked for bend that fits! Then cut the hose and there ya go! Easy and cheap.

IF you don't have any of the water crap up front(much easier to do all sorts of maintenance) then you need a 90° from the LEFT side of radiator (looking down) to go the expansion tank - get rid of the pipe. Why keep the pipe with all of those little pc of crap hoses?

As you can see from my pics, I ground off the unnecessary pipe connections, but kept the rest because its a great pipe! Its out of the way and secure. No reason to get rid of it after its been modified to the new configuration.

Oh are you talking about deleting the support points on the left of the pipe and putting in a 90 there and maintaining the pipe otherwise?

I guess so. The S2 pipe is juts a single rubber hose. Unbolt the big steel jobby, and you're away! And save the weight of all those hose clips!

Just one hose, upper radiator to expansion tank, the rest is gone.

Yes I did miss it Andrew sorry, had about 8 hrs of sleep out of the past 48. I jsut like the one hose, rather than two and the pipe - less trouble I think. good job though

Other than just having less hoses under the hood....is there an advantage to a non-water cooled turbo? I would think having a cooled one would be an advantage in that it would last longer. Or is it that just most aftermarket ones don't come with water cooling as an option?

Ah I am with you Ski. I never thought about cleaning up that side of the water pipe. Now that I will be removing the coil I will probably just delete the mounting bracket side and hose some hose, but keep the pipe.
