Is this a #6 or #8 hot side?

For sure it will flow more cause you now have
a 10 blade turbine as compared to the stock which
if memory serves me correct is a 12 or a 11 blade turbine.
Besides in aerodynamic terms, I think the garrett turbine is
more efficient. BTW, what kind of boost are you running
that cause the demage ?

OK, maybe the turbine overall diameter is larger, I think the external diameter of the housing is pretty much the same. I thought the overall diameter of the turbine wheel was the same but it was less of trapezoid shape.
Here is the pic I found on this forum of the two hotsides:

Thanks for the reply. So I should not worry about the bigger housing then. I was running 18lbs. to 20lbs. of boost. The compressor is a 57 trim.

Thanks for helping the "searched challenged", I must have missed those posts. Still they had no mention of machining out the housing to accept the bigger wheel, so I guess this wasn't a total waste of space.
Any data or reasoning as to why it wouldn't flow as much air? This setup may give me the best of both worlds. A little less lag with a little more flow.

That a machined conversion from a #6 to a #8 housing will not flow as much (higher back pressure) as a clean #8 turbine, is my assessment (no hard data) based on the fact that the scroll is narrower on the #6 and therefore has a smaller inside cross-section for air flow.
I would guess that a machined conversion would perform somewhere between the “the clean” #6 and #8 housings and I am curious about the actual outcome, since #8 housings are hard to find.

Bump. Can anyone answer my question on post #25? I have a hotside with the same numbers as the one Asarus posted. I originally thought it was a #6 hotside, but it may be an 8. I took Asarus's picture he posted to show that my turbine opening is 55mm. Is it an 8 or 6?

Here's a pic of a KKK #6 vs a Turbonetics #8 w/ Stg 3 wheel:
Here are the numbers on the #6 casting. The bore measures just under 50mm and the Turbonetics #8 measures 57.5mm.
