Default 3" Exhaust,Lyndsey Boost Enhancer and FPR

I just added these items to my 88 951 and the car is now a rocket. After a drive to show my wife she said and I quote her " We need to go to the hospital, because I now have whip lash" It was a cool day in the low 40's and when the car hit around 4500 RPM at hard throttle the rear tires would break loose. I can't imange what another 50-75 HP would be Damn Scary I would think.

The Bost Ehancer is set at the factory setting of 10 PSI. I did not change it.

I tend to get confused by info I recieve here. I have people telling me one thing and the vendor telling me another. I don't think the vendor would sell me something that would be harmful to the car. I also think the Vendor and done allot of R & D before he started selling a product.
But how do I know who to believe??

Why did you buy a boost controller if you are keeping the stock boost? Have you deleted your CV?

Your exhaust will give you another 1-2 psi of boost.

In terms of who to believe. Well a vendor is motivated to sell you products. The best person to believe is yourself! Do research and educate yourself by asking questions. People wont always agree on everything, but there are some basics that cant be denied. With these basics you will be abke to determine how you feel about the tricky stuff.

I bought the Lyndsey Boost enhancer to let the boost come on sooner and it was a nice up grade for not a whole lot of money.

cliff I wouldnt worry about it. Your still on stock chips right? Well you would be hitting boost cut at around 14psi. The exhaust I dont see giving you 2psi of extra boost....maybe .5 to 1psi. So you are prolly running 11.15psi right now with the mods and the factory injectors are more than equiped to handle that and more. If you were dialing up the boost I would say you need to get new chips but, since you arent dont worry about it.

If you want to expeirence boost cut first hand mess around the the LBE give her a few turns see what happens.lol.

oh ****.....well. Get a aftermarket boost gauge stat! That should be one of the first things you do anyways. The factory one is crapola.

I wouldnt get into too much until you find out exactly what boost pressure you are running and more importantly what kind of chips you have. Most people have autothority chips from the old days...since they used to be the only one's mass producing them. Chances are you have those so be careful...they run lean up top.

order a boost gauge and a set of Vitesse chips matched to the boost pressure and mods you are runing.

The car was chipped when I bought it, I have a recept for installing a perforamnce chip from 1997. But I don't know which one it is and have not had a chance to open it up. Weather has been crappy for doing it. I am hoping tomorrow it will be a nice sunny day. At this time I am running a chip from 97 full 3" exhaust, 3.0 FPR and the LBE. Dave Lyndsey says I should be running just fine and I trust he knows what he is talking about and I have his cone filter set up coming next week. I think the orginal set up is causing a little bottle neck with the 3" exhaust so with adding ther air filter set up I should have real good flow in and out with out any restricton's.

Does this sound ok?

Dave Lindsey has no idea how its running without knowing the fuel map of the chip you are using. No idea at all...

I would not let someone guess with the fuel requirements in any car I own. Like Big John said, you should look at getting a boost gauge and some way to determine the AF ratio, get chips mapped specifically to your mods.

I have the box opened and I see a chip marked DME, how do I tell what chip it is, the one in has written on it Made in Japan. It has Japan 8507 written on it and some one stuck a plan white sticker on it that says DME. I am not sure which chip it is any ideas?
