Sami: No problem. If I can have a lap with you, you can have a lap with me.

Dave: Nice clean lap (video). See you in may.

Mikjel, sounds good

We'll be rather easy to find, just look for a bunch of cars with FIN plates. I'll be the one with the graphite 951.

Dave, you have a black turbo (with GB plates obviously), right? See you in may as well

Yes, and yes. It's a friend of mine, very powerful car but he's a bit of a conservative driver.

The Nordschleife is a typical example of a place where track knowledge and the willingness to take risks results in much faster speeds than raw power.

Last September we passed a 964RS in Fuchröhre (one of the fastest parts of the track) - 4-up in a rental new Beetle Convertible TDi... And myself - in my 951 - have been passed by locals in anonymous Golf II's... The trick is not to let yourself get baited into following someone when you have no idea who the driver is and the capabilities of him or his car.

The atmosphere, hugh variety of interesting cars and many automobile enthousiasts makes for a wonderful place to spend a weekend.

Fancy a rear facing camera with a 968cs riding shotgun very close behind ? I think this is one of the best videos I have done as it really shows the steep gradients of the track.

This pic was taklen on the same lap.......
