86 LSD VS 89 LSD

According to the factory manual (turbo supplement):
____________________
Apart from a few deviations, transmission 016R, code AOR, is identical to the turbo transmission 016R, code 5R, with regard to construction and repair.
The most significant deviations are:
- transmission-oil cooling as standard
- limited slip differential as standard (with reinforced inner plates and molybdenum-coated differential shafts)
- gear wheels for first and second gear on the drive shaft are blasted for increased strength
_________________________
The AOR trans is the Turbo S trans, and the 016R 5R is the standard turbo trans with LSD and cooler.
It would also be worthwhile to check a PET catalog for part number differences on the guts of the LSD. But my guess is that the earlier turbo LSD is probably the same % lock.

Technik supplement states that 40% is limit(at time of books production) due to clearance room for plates.(not enough room for larger discs therefore larger bias)

According to the part numbers and description, both LSDs are 40% lock. The part number for the early LSD is 951 332 053 03, and it is superceded by the Turbo S (M758) LSD 951 332 053 05. Meaning the M758 is now the only one available through a dealer.
Only two part numbers are different for the guts:
Internal Spline Disk: 917 332 551 10 for the early LSD (never thought any of these cars had a 917 part in them!). The M758 part is 951 332 551 00.
Pressure Ring: 944 332 511 00 for the early LSD and 951 332 511 00 for the M758 version.
Again, I doubt there is much difference in performance or maintenance between the two.

Thanks a lot guys, that's what I was looking for. I just wanted to make certain mostly that they are both 40% locking, and performance wise they should be the same.
