Default Anyone who knows this?

What's the weight of the 944/951 block, upper and lower parts combined, otherwise stripped. Found the weight for the whole engine when I searched, but what I need is for just the block and girdle. Anyone..???

I would estimate a bare block at about 75-90lbs, I just carried one around a couple weeks ago, and the girdle at 25-30lbs.
So, a combined weight of 100-120lbs.

The only things left on my block were the studs, so remove ~2-5lbs for them.

Shipping one around?

Exactly. They're hard to come by up here...and with the price for the cars up here, the bits and pieces are expensive too...to the point of being ridicolous...
So I try to find the weight and dimensions as exactly as possible. Now I have something to work from,at least. Thanks.

Ah, I see, didn't notice you were in Norway!
That should be reasonably close. Of course, my arms do not serve as a precise weight-measuring device, but it is more precise than 'More than 5lbs, less than 1000'

I don't think UPS would like that estimate...they might consider it a bit vague..

How much crate did you use? Mine was a single board to protect the head face, the rest cardboard and heavy plastic shrinkwrap, I paid $65 shipping (UPS Ground).

That's what I mean - 135 minus 30 is 105.
It was a custom made (by me -work of art ) crate with 4 doug-fir 2x4 posts on the inside to accept the screws and hold the plywood together.

Wait - did have b alance shafts and covers on, also.

No need for any artwork to pack this one...it's a dead one that will be revived beyond anything Porsche ever thought of,so a few nicks and scrapes doesn't matter at all, every surface will be worked on,cosmetically or for technical reasons. Now,if it arrives in several pieces....
