Anyone who knows this?
What's the weight of the 944/951 block, upper and lower parts combined, otherwise stripped. Found the weight for the whole engine when I searched, but what I need is for just the block and girdle. Anyone..???

I would estimate a bare block at about 75-90lbs, I just carried one around a couple weeks ago, and the girdle at 25-30lbs.
So, a combined weight of 100-120lbs.
The only things left on my block were the studs, so remove ~2-5lbs for them.
Shipping one around?

So I try to find the weight and dimensions as exactly as possible. Now I have something to work from,at least. Thanks.

Ah, I see, didn't notice you were in Norway!
That should be reasonably close. Of course, my arms do not serve as a precise weight-measuring device, but it is more precise than 'More than 5lbs, less than 1000'

How much crate did you use? Mine was a single board to protect the head face, the rest cardboard and heavy plastic shrinkwrap, I paid $65 shipping (UPS Ground).

That's what I mean - 135 minus 30 is 105.
It was a custom made (by me -work of art ) crate with 4 doug-fir 2x4 posts on the inside to accept the screws and hold the plywood together.
Wait - did have b alance shafts and covers on, also.
