The timing does need to be looked at regardless... IIRC you cant run as aggressive timing on a 2.8 stroker. Anyone with experience want to confirm? That should have been explained to you when you did the engine work though.

Yeah John already mentioned that which is why I got his chips and he said to set the FQS to 4 if I'm running 91 octane.

Seem like you have a lot of engine work done, was it all done at the same time? Recently? Or have you been running fine for a while and the problem just appeared?

NZ951:

I had the mafterburner PB computer and the MAF meter on my 2.5 and it seemed to work fine. Everything else is brand new since I just completed this 2.8 project ask for the rest of the components like sensors and such everything for the most part is new except for the wiring harness and the DME/KLR computers.

Do you have an adjustable fpr or fixed at 3.0 bar?

Is the Stage II MAF big enough to feed 2.8L engine with Super 75 turbo?
jwl is going to start building one this weekend with a Vitesse Stage IV kit.

Ski, I think the ID of the MAF can support the
flow. It's the calibration of the sensor that is
of concern. BTW, do you have any issues when
using the 930 clutch disc ? I remembered reading
that it is thicker the the 951 disc.

Thanks

Jim is using that on his 2.8 project, it test fit fine and Jason at Paragon has sold several of them; it's a bit thicker and just a bit wider, I posted a pic on the thread Clutch prices the other day. We run a RSR copper clutch on the race car - no problems.

I was just wondering about the 2.5 meter with the 2.8 and that cam combo.

Thanks Ski.
If the 2.5 meter is not in sinc with the 2.8 it
should only affect the last quarter of the rpm
range as the voltage will be max out. It is
rather unlikely that the voltage of the sensor
will max out at 4000 rpm even for a 2.8 L
with a huge turbo.

I know and I agree 100% on the voltage, and John and others are certianly better to offer up solutions; just watching and reading this in case jwl has tuning issues as he gets ready to fire up his 2.8 in a couple of months.

Brent,
your idle needing to be richer in order to be smooth, is perfectly normal because of your more aggressive cam

JWL got a complete kit, tuning is as easy as Stage 2.. The problems here are not 2.8L related...

Yes, for now it sounds more like electrical
rather than mechanical but who knows
what might turn up ?

I agree, I bought the complete Vitesse kit for my 2.8, ran great right out of the box.
