Default Another Clutch Thread... (Spec's Opinion on the KEP plate)

I just got this info from David Norton from Spec Clutch.

("our plate" is referring to the Aluminum PP from Spec, which is also about $600)

Also this on a new Disc:

I know there has been alot of negative reaction to the Stage 3 Spec clutch. That makes me apprehensive about considering it. I don't think a stage 2 is even an option for the type of power I'll be making, not to mention that I plan on dragging my car.

It would stand to reason that if a 6 puck is smoother engaging than a 4 puck, then a full faced disc would be smoother engaging that even a 6 puck. I may try this "Stage 3 +". It seems its the strongest and also smoothest engaging of all the Stage 3 Discs. In Spec's words, "It will drive fine on the street."

Clutch selection is so much a matter of personal preference. I've always been a fan of sharp engaging clutches. I've driven ACT and other clutches in friends' cars, and I've never had a problem with the engagement. A buddy with a hatch even has one so aggressive that he's downgrading stages, and everyone whos driven it hates it. I was the only one who liked it.

Is there anyone on this board with a stage 3 that actually likes it?

How's that I never get a reply from Spec at all.
Hmmm, maybe it's because I wrote to them complaining
about their Stage III clutch kit.
Hey Boost, if you're tracking the car go for it but if it's
going to double as a street car, may I suggest that you
look into their Hybrid Stage III Clutch disc.
Check it out on Lindsey's site. That should give the best of
both worlds.

Oh Boost, if you rev it & engage it's o.k.
Problem for me is when street driven,
you just can't be doing that all the time
at stop & go traffic.

BG, since you are working with Chris White on the engine, why don't you use one of the custom clutches he sells?
