Default Inspection holes

There seem to be a lot of inspection holes on my 951. Unfortunately, there seem to be a lot of covers missing on these holes. I know I definitely need the clutch insp. hole cover but am wondering about some others. There's an opening near the reference sensor on the bellhousing and another one on the bottom of the bellhousing. Are there supposed to be rubber plugs in these? Also, what's that rubber piece on the front of the tranny that's a few inches wide. Thanks for the info. Be patient, I'm learning.

The large hole in front of the tranny is not only for inspection, but for access to the coupler that holds the torque tube to the tranny input shaft. You have to access this for a clutch job or dropping the tranny.

If you replace the clutch inspection plug, put some silicone (just a few drops) on the plug edge to hold it in the hole. If not, it will fall out (that's why it's missing now).

Thanks for the info. Are there supposed to be covers on the holes at the top and bottom of the bellhousing where the reference sensor is?

There is also an inspection hole at the dis. cap for the TDC that has a plug (95%+ of them are missing).

Also at the bottom of the belt covers is another hole that should be plugged (according to PET and i have that covered as well).

I love it when people make up descriptive statistics...

Duck tape fell off in less than 1 week for some reason. Since it is sandy as heck here and there is literally no-point in cleaning the engine, i went for the OEM which costed ~$1.30:

I RARELY saw any 944 with that hole plugged

Great info, thanks. I remember that hole in the t-belt cover now but forgot about covering it up. Also, does anyone know about the holes at the bellhousing on the top near the reference sensors and the bottom? Do you have plugs in yours?

I believe the inspection hole near the reference sensors should be left open because that shows the OT sign on the flywheel when setting TDC.

Below the bell housing is the clutch inspection port? i do have that covered as well, another cheap $1 part (or so).
