Default Rear Koni Yellow bad?

I asked this before but didn't get a "proper" answer.

How to tell if the rear shocks are bad and need replacement?

If they are bad, is there anything "while you're in there" when replacing the shocks? maybe the rear sway bar bushings?

Is there anyone else besides Paragon products who supply the rear Koni Sport (Yellow) for the 951?

TIA

The entire front suspention was taken care of last year:

-New Koni Strut Inserts
-New Upper Strut mounts
-New strout mount seals
-Koni bump stops
-New front sway bar bushings
-New Weltmiester #200 springs
-New Control arms (both driver's and passenger side)
-Rebuilt Steering rack
-New Tie rods

And other things that i don't remember, it is the rear that i am interested in now (sorry for the unneccessary list though).

BTW: each of the rear shocks have a bushing of sort inside them, mine is shot (have little "gains" falling).

Slim: They rarely carry oil filters for the 944 here at the dealer, i doubt they have the rear shocks

But how to tell if they need to be replaced?

The easiest test in the world is to puch the rear of your car down and let it go back up by itself. It should stabilize immideatly.

You should be able to feel the condition of the shocks when you drive though.

Hos,
You should be able to pick Koni yellow up through any dealer that sells koni shocks.

FWIW, I nearly ordered a set from a local parts store because they would of been cheaper with my friends discount.

If they are on the car, see if they are leaking externally. If they are off the car, compress them and if they don't rebound and quickly they are bad too.

When i make the rear "bounce" by pressing on one side, when i let go, it bounces once or even twice before coming to a stop (good or bad?)

Dont know ANY Koni dealers here, probably there isn't anyway......

Besides, is there a specific model for the Koni yellows for the 951?

Bad, they are not suppose to bounce at all - just settle.

When mine failed, I couldn't tell until I had pulled them out. Two bolts hold them in, the swap is simple.

Hos,
A quick glance at Koni's website shows "8040-1035Sport" as the Model Number for Koni Yellow Sport Rear Shocks. Also, they are the same for924S, 944 85.5-89, 944S, 944S2, 944 Turbo, 968 except M030.

Koni Yellow Front Sport Struts model number is "8641-1414Sport"

Or you can download the PDF HERE

All you should have to do is find someone who sells Koni Shocks, any parts store should.

They can be rebuilt if you already have Konis in the rear.

http://www.tripointengineering.com/Koni/koniCenter.htm

Koni will also rebuild them. I'm thinking of going this route and having my fronts converted to external adjustable (single or double).
