Any 944 turbo guy driven or been in a 993TT? Thoughts?

993tt is awesome and if you think the 996tt is a better car, then you need to ride in a 993tt with the Ruf package. Relatively speaking, it's not a lot of money ($15k or so), and it adds 100hp. Personally, my dream car is a 993 GT2. Unreal.

Very nice
Andrew
I went in one about 18 months ago. It was the reason I HAD to have a Porsche before I went to the UK. I've never been in anything faster or more solid.
This one's for sale right now in NZ....

Not sure what I'll be able to stretch to in the UK - I'm hoping a LHD 993TT but might have to "settle" for a 930.
If you can afford it do it.
Cheers

I drove Viperbobs 650 hp 993tt and that thing was fast. Only drove it on the streets though but I was very impressed by the way it got the power down. It is converted to RWD only. It is miles away from the older 911's in feel.
Wierdest thing was that it didn't feel like a tricked out car, it was very solid and well behaving and the launch once it came close to the 1,3 bar boost was impressive!

I drove a bone stock 993tt.
My ride at the time was a modded 2.8L 951 (k29 turbo, 15 psi boost; a few things not quite sorted out).
The 993tt had a little better braking and quite a bit better traction. Mid range and mid throttle power was a little better. At full throttle, my 2.8L would pull away (the 993tt driver and I did a side by side).

I had an '01 996 TT for a few months; too heavy. Having driven a 600+ HP 993 TT, I would have to say that it would be the vehicle of choice out of 951, 996 TT, and 993 TT. It is insane, but not overwhelming; especially for those who like to modulate their drifts with the throttle foot. The 996 TT drove really BIG in comparison. Porsche had it right with the 993 TT. More edgy than a tweaked 951 and markedly easier to get in over your head. I also owned a '88 930 S Cab and the refinement of the 993 TT is light years away. Beware, if you drive one; the desire to own it will overcome your senses. For an everyday driver, the 951 is impossible to beat, though.

Last summer I had a student at Summit Point in WV let me drive his 993TT for about 30min the car was stock with hoosier race tires. At that time I had my 95 993with Bilstein pss-9 coilovers and kumho victoracers. The tt had much more power and handled almost as well as my 993. The scarry thing is that car was easier to drive than my rear wheel drive 993!
On a related note I have put a few hundred miles on a 2002 996TT on the street. That care is quite docile until you turn off the PSM (Please Save ME!) I proposed to my wife in that car. The car was borrowed from a neighbor, but it has been replaced by a Ferrari 360 Modena.

993TT's are a great car. Though having ridden in Stephen Kaspar's 996TT with 800hp at the motor, i am a little biased Don't know which looks better, i think they both look awsome.
