Default 6 oder 8?

Ok, Ive got a T04B compressor with a 50 trim E wheel and now I want to decide if I should go with a 6 hotside or an 8. I am one for large numbers but the lag I had with my K26 bothered me a lot so i need your help here. Please tell me if there is anyway for a 6 hotside to hold to redline and if with that compressor I should go with a 6 or 8. Thanks

Also, I will be running between 15-18 psi if that helps at all. Nothing over 18 I dont think. hehe

What about the turbine trim? that also plays a crucial role in spool and hp (top end).

I have an 8 and I dont think the lag is too horrible. It is for me right now because one of my exhaust manifold gaskets is leaking and that c02 sample thing is leaking, but when that gets fixed it should spool up pretty quick. Sorry, I can't give you any spool up numbers yet, but hopefully soon.

The 6 will hold boost to redline. There is no dought that the 6 is faster than an 8. If your looking for 300rwhp you will get it with the 6 and the compressor trim you chose. The 8 will give you about 10 to 15 rwhp more with the same compressor and equal boost. You can go with a stage 3 trim in a 6 housing for a little more top end without sacrificing spoolup to much. I like the 6 for a street car.

With the amount of backpressure the #6 gives there is no way it would hold boost to redline, besides, even if the backpressure was low enough, it is still too small to hold boost to redline. Small turbine = quick spool and loss of power in the top end......

I had a few turbos on my vehicles. I can tell you for sure that a 6 can hold boost in excess of 25 lbs. to red line. We are not talking about a k26 anymore.

Try measuring the backpressure on the #6 hotside, also what was the turbine trim on that housing when you held 25psi?

Very funny, yet you don't even know what experience i have.........(hence me being sarcastic about my post on experience).

Anyways, this is you're thread, it's about the #6 and #8 hotsides not about my experience (start another thread if you will, im sure other members would be interested).

Note: I myself haven't chosen anything on the poll since you never mentioned how the car is going to be driven (street/track) nor have you told us on the turbine trim you plan on using (maybe that would give you a boost on my experience?)
