Question Upgrading rear brakes

Has anyone installed rear 993TT (big red) brake calipers on the rear of their 944 to compliment the big reds out front? Or maybe just the reaers of a 993 non-turbo?
Would you run the same brake rotor in the back?
Just thinking (typing) out loud...

Popular opinion is that even with big reds up front, the stock rears are fine. The first upgrade for the rears is the improved proportion valve. Check with Paragon - that's where I got mine. It definitely helps the braking balance.

I just looked at the proportioning valve on Paragon's website, it says for Turbo, S2, and 968 only. Does this bias problem not exist with the 944/924S?

TIA

There is plenty of rear braking with the stock brakes. Once the proportion valve is switched, and the suspension firmed-up, there is more than enough brake torque out of the stock rears.

I agree with eclou. I have the proportion valve w/ the big reds up front and stock rears and the car really stops well. I once installed a set of the stock FRONT 951 calipers on the rear (they have larger pistons then the rear calipers) and they tended to lock up the rears before the big reds did. I removed them and went back to the stock rears.

I am currently upgrading my 964 RS spec replica from standard C2 964 calipers and rotors to 996tt big red monoblocs in front with 993tt rotors. What should i do with the proportioning valve? I have read on the Rennlist that taking out the internals of the standard valve works fine is this the case or should i replace it? Also is in necessary to upgrade master cylinder to larger 23.1mm. I have been offered a set of rear 993tt rears has anyone fitted these to a 964 before anre they straight bolt on?

I didn't put the big reds on mine (PO did) a long time ago. He raced the car alot. The secret he found was to install a 928 proportioning valve to use big reds front / stock rears.

I would like the have the matching rears just because they look good.

I have used the proportion valve now. The stops very well.

I have Big Red fronts and the stock 951 Rears ( with 5/45 Proportioning valve )

Paragon sells 5/45 valve. You can get them from the dealer as well.

In my case, the 5/33 worked fine with S4 fronts, but wasn't enough with the Big Red fronts.

This is on the track.
