Hung,

Depends if you want a shorter lever or a mech on the transaxle to shorten the throw. I have a cut down lever as I went for a momo **** and think the sotck lever is too tall. Me Porsche mechanic says that short shift kits are very hard on the syncros. I didnt get the low down on why though.

ok found the posts on different forum.

I don't believe that cutting the lever will be as effective as the changing the linkage. Unless the SFR also raise/lower the linkage point in the lever.

IMO don't believe the synchro linkage induced problem, it's all about mechanical sympathy

The stock linkage (on the transmission) tends to get a lot of play after the years (at least on mine when driving a different 944 here)....

A new one for Porsche would costs more than the short shifter that mounts/replaces the linkage...........another reason for an upgrade i guess?

Honestly, the SFR ss kit is kinda a joke. That is unless you only want the momo ****. I have tried both and nothing compares to the weltmeister/autothority/944racing sskit. I actually have both on, or had both on. It was really really really really short. Yeah, short.

They are basically all the same minus the weltmeister and autothority ones having an extra adjustment. I have not used one with the adjustment and the 944 Racing one worked great for me. Since the autothority ones are on indefinite backorder, those are outta the question. I picked my 944 racing one off ebay for about 100 bucks and the weltmeister one retails at www.performanceproducts.com for like 180. If you can find any of them for cheapest, go with that one, good luck.
