I am still wondering about M758’s question – how do you heel/toe downshift with this setup? It sounds like it will limit the revs when the clutch is ‘in’, I need pretty close to redline when down shifting at the track.

I applaud the technical work but don’t really care for the usage.

Maybe you can get a torqueflite to fit…..

Very cool special tool,
I have been looking into that for a few years but never took the chance to order on and try it.

1 Question, Does the MDS rev limiter bypass the limiter in the DME chip?

If my current limiter is at 6250 rpm. Will i be able to use the MSD's 7000 rpm and not hit the chips limiter?

Also i was looking at the MDS digital 6 Plus witch is like the 6AL but instead of using the rpm pills, Its ajustable in 100rpm increaments.
http://www.msdignition.com/ignition_18_6520.htm

And their is also Crane cams HI-6DSR Dual Stage Rev Limiter CD Ignition.
With is like the MSD digi 6 plus but with the dual stage included into the box.
http://www.cranecams.com/index.php?s...lvl=5&prt=1972

I think i like the crane cams one better.

Hi Edman,
If I'm not mistaken you've got to run a crank
trigger with the Digital Plus.

No, the limiters will be stacked on top of each other and the lowest will determine your max rpm.

Peckster,
This is just speculation on my part, and throw Jeremy in there with you, but I have to think that if you are smart enough to learn about, and then go purchase, a closet super car, then you are also samart enough to read this post and say to yourself, "What in the hell are they talking about?" Most of the guys posting here, including the two of you, have a good idea of the implications of this mod, but most will never make the technical connection. Most of us are still trying to figure out why x smells like Y under certain conditions. Frankly, I'm damn glad that there are guys out there pushing the limts. Once they blow up, our don't, we all win in the long run....without spending our own money. After all, as I've said before,...God andn Darwin were both right! E

Edman - I have a switched 12 volt line behind my Lindsey guage panel. It goes to the defeat switch mounted to the panel. From there, it is over to the clutch switch, then to the MSD "3 step" - red wire (module #1).
The "3 step" is plugged into the MSD 6AL. When I step on the clutch, the "3 step" switches from module #2 (7000 RPM limit) to module #1 (4000 RPM limit). You can change either of the RPM limits with another chip in less than 3 seconds (or use a rotory wheel inside the cabin if you are really fancy), unless you don't have fingers.

By the way, I did NOT know that John and TT were doing something with the chip when I put this together - otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. I have already broken his chops for not telling me.

We just made a chip especially for you. Not for launch control, but for shifting.. Of course for now the RPM is set. In the future, you will be able to pick it ..

Wait till you find out what else i didn't tell you about But then again, you already know I lost my voice..

I'm picturing a long increasing radius turn with a required upshift in it. Clutch goes in, engine to 4000 (or whatever) rpm, clutch out with foot on floor... car into armco.

Or into the back 1/4 panel of the WRX that has been clogging the turn.....
