Gonna finally get one to dump some weight up front. Did anybody try the lighter black instead of red? Did you get a new box/mount or stay with stock? Any info would be great! Thanks, Lincoln

If you are talking about the 13# battery, I have it on my race car and I love it.. For a track car, it's great! For a street car, I'm not sure it has enough reserve..
I pais around $140 for mine, few weeks later I found the same unit (different name, from original manufacturer) for 50% less...

Yes I too have seen it recently priced comparable to a stock battery. Did you use your stock box, modify it, or go with another companies specific custom box?

I'm not sure which model mine is in my track car, but it was mounted with a small custom metal tray and strap, right side up, posts oriented like a stock battery. They have very little reserve, and I will not be putting mine back in when the car is rebuilt, am instead relocating an Optima to the rear. The weight savings isn't worth the added hassle of having to hook up external power if I want to have IGN on for troubleshooting/tuning to me.

Sam, that was/is my exact dilema, whether to go Optima in the spare well or one of the Odyssey under the hood? I have already lightened the rear to it's limit, now I'm working on the front. If I go with the Odyssey, do I go with the 625 or 680 metal jacketed? Jacketeds raise op. temps. from 113F to 170F+ . Undecided...

Sams complaint has been voiced hundreds of times on other lists that I frequent. For a street car, I would say that it is not a good idea, just not enough reserve, especially for cold areas. For a track car, I think it would be okay, Sam's complaints aside.

Thanks guys, but I'll sit on the fence some more. Either way I want to replace it. I can loose a good 25 pounds all together and help balance a little, or take the original total weight(high front) and ship it to where I really need it in the rear. Right now I'm sure I'm running close to 60%-40%, definitely NOT good!
