Default Finding Vacuum Leaks and Part # Needed

I am trying to find vacuum leaks. I got a can of carb cleaner and when the car was idling, i sprayed some on the intake manifold, brake booster hoses and various (virtually all) vacuum lines and fittings.

Yet, the car didn't idle higher/lower. Is there a better way of finding leaks? i suspect a leak that is occuring under engine load conditions, or a REALLY minor leak.

Secondly, there is a three way conneting piece that sits on the brake booster hoses. This is where the blue/black chec-valve sits. I ordered one from a vendor in the US and confirmed the part numbers with PET. But i got the two-piece version, but the numbers were right

This is what the car SHOULD have:

This is what PET shows:

What is the part number for the THREE way piece????

TIA!

There is a procedure where you take an old oil filter, cut it in half, plug it into the Jboot, and can actually pressurize the system. LOTS of info on this in the archvies.

Regarding the PN, are you looking for the PN for that plastic TEE?
That blue/black check valve is the brake booster check valve. 928 part number, I paid around $45 for it from the dealer.

Cyrus: Yes, im looking for that plastic Tee, but the PEt shows just a two way hose connection

That Tee connects the two brake booster hoses and allows the blue/black check valve to connect there as well......

You may have a split in a hose that appears ok but expands with pressure. Thats what I found one time.

Andy,
That is what i am suspecting, BUT i need to order parts today ASAP in order for them to arrive by Wednesday.

Im ordering new intake manifold gaskets (though the ones now are fine) and the 87+ updates vacuum lines that delete the venturi. Im also ordering a Catch Can since the intake would be comming off. Anything else since the intake if off????

BUT I NEED THE PART NUMBER FOR THAT THREE WAY PLASTIC PIECE!!!, not the one showed in the diagram, that is a two way one.........

Are you venting the catch can to ATM? I have for a while, but are changing to a recirculated one. I am more and more anti the vent to ATM every day now... its a bad design really one for an easy install only.

Easiest way to find a vacuum leak is to just replace all the hoses. Not hard, but does require pulling the intake.

IIRC the 'tool' to pressurize the system through the J boot is an old fuel filter cut in half, not an oil filter.

OK people, so you take a FUEL filter, cut in half then what?? I KNOW I have a small leak under pressure but can't find it as well. I just replaced my fuel filter too, so I can use that if I need to for this. Let me know, anyone with details can IM with them!!

On my 89 the check valve is at the brake booster. The part you have circled
was just a two way connector. I deleted it with a solid hose from manifold to the brake booster.
You could update to the new setup pretty easy and have a cleaner setup.
I am using a reliaboost so I deleted the CV and the hoses associated
with it as well as the CV itself.
I have removed the vacum manifold also.
This has cleaned up the space under the manifold quite a bit and gotten rid of
some hoses and connections that are potential leaks.
The catch can is going to connect in between the A/O seperator and the intake itself eliminating the pipe and connections under the manifold. This way if there is a leak I can see it and fix it without pulling the manifold.

Tim: It's ok, i wanted a three way connector, which was equipped in my car in the first place. When it broke, i ordered the original piece which came in as a two way connector...........

It's ok, Laust is making some intake vacuum fittings that im keen on........
