Default Street Tire Survey

I am getting ready to put some new tires on my street car and was wanting to get some input before buying. I was wanting to get some feedback as to traction, noise, wear and initial balance. Tire sizes will be 225-45-17 and 275-40-17.
Thanks for your input!

Fuzion's are getting rave reviews.
I just put a set on the rear and they are much quieter and have better wet traction
than the Potenza's that they replaced.

I have those sizes in Michelin Pilot Sport and like them. What kind of car are they going on?
The rears raise the gear ratio around 3% - you are okay with that?

They are going on my 88 Turbo-S. I'm having a badass 2.5 rebuilt so I don't think power will be a problem. Espicially with the way the car wants to light them up in 1st an 2nd gears.

i have fuzion's in the stock sizes...
very happy with them, from the onset... 'specially for the price.

traction: wet, i am dead impressed with... straight line, cornering and braking...
dry, while i've had better tires, nothing has come anywhere close for the $... they are very predictable, too.

noise: eh, seems quiet to me. no real road noise. quieter than the worn dunlops that they replaced, and no squealing around tight turns.

wear: damn, really impressed. thought for sure they'd wear faster with my driving habits, and their dry traction... about 4k miles and theyre not nearly 1/4 worn. that is NEW for me.

initial balance: seems fine. have put something like 4k miles on 'em with no need to reblance, either.

Ill tell you what NOT to buy...

"Zexius" tires from Les Schwab. Garbage. Pure garbage. Im glad I didnt pay for them, the PO did. A total joke in the rain, obviously useless in snow (even a little slush and they are usless) and not impressive in the dry at all.

Michelin Pilot Sports if you want the best.

Bridgestone S03 if you're looking for the best deal.

Enough said.

DO NOT GET FALKINS!!!!

A buddy with an S4 blew two up doing 75 only 8 hours after getting them!!!!! Completly destroyed TWO Fiske wheels!!! (all on one side) At nearly $900 each that is a ton of money. Falkin said oh well. I would not support that kind of product or company.

I agree with Luis! Pilot Sports are like nothing else.

Haven't tried SO3s but many of my track day friends seem to manage impressive lap times on them as well.

The only problem with the piolts is the 275-40-17 , which they don't have. I agree with the Falkin post!, just had a set on my Volvo S80-T6 and they would NOT balance out!! I am putting a different brand on tomorrow, Nitto.

Luis, you say the SO3's are the best deal? They aren't that cheap though!

I dunno... it's all relative. I am still really impressed with the Fusions I have on the front. The pair of Fuldas on the back end are nice too, but not quite as good. I wasn't impressed with the Goodyears that were on there before and I amd not the biggest fan of Michelins becaise of noise, wear, and price. I haven't experienced BFG's on a Porsche yet, but have been very impressed with them on many other cars. They are also pretty cheap (relatively) and last a pretty long time (depends on the model of course)

Just my $9.51... good luck deciding!
