Question to EBC, or not to EBC...

that is the question. I really want to move to an electronic controller and I like
the Greddy Profec B spec 2 due to its price, compact size and realtime display.
I have searched a bit and found lots of good info. Anyone have any opinions, good or bad?
Thanks

A while back I upgraded to an LBE. Big improvement over stock, faster spool, held boost a lot better, more down low grunt (as in <3k RPM). First few times I ran with it, the turbo screamed

Then I move up to a Greddy Profec A, the one with the fuzzy logic learning. Another big improvement, in spool speed, the works. It has a little LED display as well. Only trick is programming it, it takes some figuring out. Also right now it does this odd thing with opening the wastegate as the car goes from vacuum to boost, but I dont know if this is the Profecs fault or if its just my 213k mile wastegate All in all im very happy with it.

I just sent my EBC (Profec-B spec 1, the original) to SpecialTool to try with his Tial WG. I believe it did not make much of a difference when compared to a MBC.. If you can wait till next week, i think he'll be dynoing and he data log boost/rpm so he'll have lots of data to share (if he wishes to do so).

I have to get my wideband installed first, so I have some time. I got in on the Evo GB (please dont call me a traitor...I just couldnt wait). I look fwd to seing some back to back results. I really think I want it for the 'gadget factor'
and to have boost that doesnt change with the temp.
Brian, thanks for the picture. Thats wher I plan to put mine and it looks pretty good there.

Also...can I connect the Profec B spec 2 in dual port mode?
Is there any benefit over single port?
Thanks again

Run dual port Wlison... you have a tial. Best to run it in dual you will get faster response.

Thanks, I know the older versions have DIP switches to set up dual port or single. But the spec 2 doesnt.
Anyone have a tested diagram for dual port hook up with the spec 2 ?

Its a K26-6 (non S) I hit 16 psi at 3200 rpm falling to about 13 psi by redline
in 3rd gear. It will hold boost longer in 4th gear.

Also... does the Profec B spec2 come on with the ignition, or do you have to remember to turn it on each time?

You guys with EBC and dual port... do you hook up the side port to the turbo outlet?
Or do you leave it unhooked/to ATM.

Duke, you use a 3-port solenoid. So, with two lines off the banjo, you run one to the side of the WG, and the other into the solenoid, then one from the solenoid to the top of the WG. The EBC then vents through the thrid port. Leaving it unhooked would be effectively running it in single port mode.
