Default Turbonetics Experience

Did anyone purchase a turbocharger directly from Turbonetics and installed it on our cars?

I have this REALLY good offer for a Turbonetics dual Ball Bearing Turbo, it's going to have a #8 hotside replica, plus it is oil lubricated and water cooled (virtually bolt on), this is BRAND NEW from the Turbonetics dealer here. He needs a 50% downpayment before ordering it from the US. Then it takes 3-4 weeks to manufacture and another 2-3 weeks for it to arrive (pay the remaining 50% when it arrives), there is a 1 year, unlimited milage on that turbo as well.

I was told that the Tubonetics Single Ball bearing turbochargers have problems, but im going for a Dual Ball Bearing............

TIA!!!

you must know

Turbonetics 60-1 HIFI with a KKK/8 hotside replica, Stage 5 Turbin Trim and Dual Ball bearing,

Note, the Turbonetics manufacture their own compressor side and hotside replicas, it would be SLIGHTLY larger than the TO4E and #8 housings, that is what the Turbonetics dealer here informed me.

So its the same as mine but a Stage 5 wheel and BB option

The T04E with #8 is the Vitesse stage 2 turbo IIRC...

How much is a good price?

TO4E Compressor housing replica (slightly larger than the standard TO4E) with 60-1 HIFI internals, turbine side is a KKK 8 replica (again slightly larger than the standard #8) with a Stage 5 wheel trim (huge) but dual bearing (spool, less oil, reponse etc).

How does $1360 sound??? NEW from dealer!!!

Won't this be bad of having such a huge trim Stage 5? I didn't notice any mods in your signature so is your car stock or do u have mods already?

Car has stock intake, but planning on a MAP/Turbo/WG/Injectors and WB all in one go in early-mid spring.

Stage 5 is big, but the Dual Ball Bearing reduces that spool-up time, but more "oomff" at upper RPMS i guess......

BTW, Lindsey racing, Speed Force Racing, and various othe rvendors use the TO4E (Garrett) and bolt it up to the KKK hotside. This is a replica Turbonetics, which differes slightly.

(Now let's go off and start talking which vendor does which turbo, using which components etc) im looking for Turbonetics BB experience........

Like Dan said, Stage 5 is huge, are you planning on a 2.7 etc later?

I dont think he had a KKK replica hotside, it was a full Garrett.

I think the stage 3 would be a better fit, but depends on your goals and expectations of the turbo. Maybe Tim at SFR could be of help, he may have tested this configuration in a stage 5 wheel. PS, the price is good for a BB, but not amazing.

That is a pretty good price for a BB. Go with something around a stage 3 since stage V will be to great. If u plan on doing that kind of stuff u might wanna think about doing headwork etc... to even flow enough to help keep spool up low. i think even the BB won't help the lag of a stage V on our cars.
