951TurboEuroSpec,
Good luck with the key situation. I only have one key for my 951 so this reminds me.........thanks........

If those are your wheels in your picture, what type and model are they? I have seen those before (though rarely) and have always liked them. Borbet? ATS?

They look like the Techart wheels. I would love to have a set of them myself.

I know $180.00 is a bit much but at the end of the day its still sunday and i can drive my car again. After just doing all belts and rollers the day before I lost my only key it was not efficient for me to loose any more driving time with my favorite car considering i got only two weeks before i got to fly back west to Vancouver......

The wheels are 18inch Techarts they have always been my most wanted wheel. When I found the car with them on it i could not resist, Ive had two other 944's one 86 NA and one 87 Turbo, this one is very special to me cause its an authentic european model.

Seasons greetings

and i did get 4 keys (LOL)

FWIW I have a spare key made from a basic blank, no light. The last one was $10 at Barrier Porsche in Bellevue WA. I cut the plastic handle off so it is just a thin metal key. I put it in a zippered pocket in my wallet. Over thirty plus years of various cars it has saved my bacon half a dozen times. $10 vs $100+ for a locksmith, good deal. Not having to admit I lost my only key, priceless.

ive got the same problem at the moment, except its on my 83' 944 and the keys were stolen.i took the battery out just in case they try to come back for the car.the biggest problem is,i can open the car door and hatch with my 87' 951's key.so bringing in the tumblers might not work real well.has anyone had success with the dealer making a new set?thanx

If the dealer can't, the lockmith can make the keys. You have the majority of the ignition key cuts from the door. They can impression the remianing without removing the ignition tumbler. It takes skill and it will cost you.

Dealer can do this with your VIN #. Cost about $20.

Can anyone give me the name of a dealer that does this for $20? I called Jim Ellis Porsche in Atlanta, and other than them being d!cks on the phone they want $58 per key blade and I have to physically come in with the title and my ID. Apparently they don't have a fax machine.

58 is probably the going rate.....resurrected thread from 2004..with exchange rates and inflation it should be 35 at most

I guess $58 isn't the end of the world, but now you have to go into the dealer in person to order the key with the title?

It doesn't sound unreasonable. Otherwise I can get the vin off of your car from the windshield plate, mock up a fake title using any of multiple programs. Then fax it to a dealer (which will come out as a crappy copy) and have keys, for your car, sent to my house.

Or, they can have you show up in person, look at an actual title (which hopefully your state has some security features built in), and maybe check your ID.
