Duke- Im pretty sure the early OPRV is a 3 piece and the later 87+ is the updated 1 piece. Do you mean its more crucial on the 3 piece?

Also does anyone know the best source for the part list Tom mentioned above? I like buying kits so I dont miss anything:-)

Oh sorry, yes more crucial on the 3-piece.

I've put in 2 later valves both without alignment tool and it works fine.
I actually spoke to the largest independet Porsche Shop in Sweden about this tool some time ago and they said they don't even have it! They always do it my hand/feel.

I found it helps to put a light coat of oil on the alignment tool, which seems to eliminate any chance of the tool getting stuck when the housing is tightened.
