Look behind the oil filler cap, near the braket that holds the O2 sensor and reference sensor. You shall find two water hoses with the heater valve. Simply undo the hose clamps and replace the heater valve.

Just remember to bleed the coolant system when your done (with the heater on at full).

Note: Maybe now it is a good time to clean out the battery negative ground since it would be visable and takes you 5 mins or so extra.

Just did my heater valve on the '88 N/A. Only took me and my neighbor 10-15min start to finish. Of course, IIRC, there will be a few extra lines in the way on the turbo. Hopefully the intake manifold doesn't have to come off to do this. BTW, it's a cheap part, only $20. Change it before it busts completely like mine did, and spewed coolant and steam.

No the intake doesnt have to be removed. Drain some coolant to be safe, so you dont get more on the bellhousing. Coolant eats clutches

Be very careful when you are replacing the valve. The firewall is just two pieces of steel pressed together. You can cut the **** out of yourself when you are trying to get the new one on. I was doing that and I started bleeding and I noticed red fluid everywhere. I was like what the **** is this red fluid and where is it coming from. Then I realized it wasn't any type of car fluid but rather andy fluid. :-)
