Default WBO2 reading 14.7 constantly

With the help of the numerous post on Rennlist on the Zeitronix WBO2 install I have managed to hook up all wires to the DME/KLR. Thanks guys!

I seem however to have done something wrong. My WBO2 only reads 14.7:1 and occasionaly 14.8:1. Even at WOT.

Can this be caused by a leak in the exhaust system before the WBO2 sensor or perhaps a leak at the welding of the O2 sensor bung?

Visually I have not been able to detect any leaks, but I'm not sure what else could cause this behavior.

Thanks!

That s a good one - don't now how you did that. Small leaks are not causing that.
How are you viewing? - display or laptop?

And WHERE is the bung?

I am viewing with a laptop and have the NBO2 signal from the Zeitronix connected to an AFR meter.

The bung is placed just before the place where the exhaust comes to its lowest point and well before the place where the cat used to be.

You may want to check your wiring against the chart on my site:

Did you take the plastic cap off the sensor before you installed it?

You may want to contact Zeitronix. They are good about getting back quickly. If it never moves off 14.7, something is not right obviously. Even if the sensor were installed in the wrong place, it would still fluctuate some under WOT.

Do all the other readings function? Like throttle position, RPMs, etc?

I did take the plastic cap of!

All functions perform perfectly! When I adjust the first pot on the Lindsey Racing PowerPerfect controller I can see a little fluctuation in the AFR (14.8:1 and even 14.9:1) but that is. Is the DME adjusting that quick the AFR to keep it at 14.7:1???

I will put the system in open loop mode, perhaps that way I can adjust the AFR at idle and see a corresponding response from the WBO2.

Maybe your sensor is faulty or a wire isn't properly soldered or crimp in its path. You could contact Zeitronix to see what kind of diagnostics you can perform to ensure your sensor is in good condition.

I'd suspect wiring problems. It seems very unlikely with an exhaust leak that leaks exactly the amount to increase A/F ratio back upp to stoich. when on boost.

yeah try this out. I doubt you'd see 14.7:1 at WOT, should be 12.0:1 or richer even. Is there a function in the standard-O2 simulator to clamp it a fixed signal?

Wow, support at Zeitronix is very quick! Less than an hour ago I send them a mail asking what I should check.

It looks like there is no connection between the O2 sensor and the Zt-2. Check the O2 sensor harness for mechanical or thermal damage. Carefully inspect the RJ45 connector which plugs into the Zt-2. Make sure it's not damaged when you pulled it thought the firewall.
It's 10 PM overhere and it's pretty dark. I will follow up on this one tomorrow.

Thanks for all the replies.

When I installed mine it worked fine at first, then started reading 14.8 constantly, so I assumed the sensor had died. I unplugged it and left it that way for a while, then plugged it back in last month and all was well again. All wiring seemed ok, I have no idea why it stopped working for a while. All I can say is to check all your connections.

I'm pretty much getting 14.7 all the time, but I get richer to 12.5 under load.
