Default What tire size should I go with?

I just purchased a new set of wheels 18X8 up front and 18X9.5 in the rear. What tire size do the rennlist guru's recommend ?

225/40 and 285/30 would be my choice. (I have the same size rims and am running a 265/35 on the back and there is room + I could use more tire...)

I would like to see a closer stagger on the tire sizes. The 225/285 combo has the potential for massive understeer.

Yeah, Matt is probably right. I have 225 and 265 right now but could definately use the extra tire in the rear. Matt you recommend a 245/40 on the front if going with a 285/30? TIA

No, the 245/40 is too tall. The answer is, there isnt a good answer. Ideally you would want an 8.5-9" front with a 255/35R18. You can fit it on an 8" wheel but I wouldnt.

hmmm....I noticed a few 245/35, is that a viable option? Choices seemed pretty limited though...

I agree with Matt, I ran a 225/275 combo for exactly one event. The amount of understeer it added to an otherwise (previously) balanced car was recockulous! Switched to a 245/275, which was better, but still not great. Frankly, I was faster with a 225/245 combo. (all these are on a 17" wheel)
YMMV.

245/35 would work but it limits your tire selection severely.

I thing I'm going with 235/40 and 285/35 . I'm also going to a larger rear swaybar so I am not to concerned about the slight understeer. I prefer better rear traction. Thank you for your reply's
