Does this sound like a bad Fuel dampener?
I know pull the vaccum line. Mine does not have fuel in it. I have a problem on start up of smoke and then I smelled my oil, a little hint of gas. Anyways the smoke is whitish gray and smells of raw fuel. I have a 3 bar fpr and it was doing this before I installed that. I have had the car dyno tuned so my a/f is correct. It is mostly when the car has been run pretty hard. Also when it is realy cold outside I start it and smell gas. My plugs look like a rich condition. But not so bad that they are fowled, just a little black. Anyways does this sound like the dampener?

A bad FPD would cause a fuel like smell in the oil (though many people suggest this is not the cause). Drive the car for a few mins, take out the oil dipstick and sniff the oil. At least that was the problem in my car and fixed it by replacing the FPD.

It doesn't sound like the damper to me. Sounds like you have an injector that's dirty enough to not be able to shut completely, I've seen it on multiple 951s. Send them out for cleaning/balancing.

I don't know if the FPR replacment would solve your fuel smell issues.
I had the same condition regarding the smell upon start-up and the oil/fuel.
I replaced the FPR and Damper, re-sealed and replaced all the injectors, changed the oil, and although it has improved, I still have the fuel smell.
The car still runs great though--so the FPR replace may help, but don't count on it to solve the problem.
I also bought mine from Pelican.

Have you tried replacing the DME temp sensor yet? I am having the same problems as you, and i can think of: DME temp sensor, FPR, Damper, Injectors that need a cleaning, O2 sensor (just did it on mine, didnt help).
I plan on doing all of the above.

Thanks guys. I have a new FPR, same problem, new O2 sensor same problem. Recently had the injectors out, but did not get them cleaned. I was thinking maybe a sticking injector. I did clean them as best as I could. But the DME temp. switch huh? Maybe thats it, I never thought of that.

From my understanding, if the dme temp switch is bad, on cold start up conditions, the dme tells the engine to run rich due to an incorrect reading. Someone else might be able to explain it in "fancier" words than I. I am seriously thinking of sending the injectors out for a sonic cleaning or whatever it is they do, for 100 bucks or so, not much to lose.

I just talked with my mechanic and he seems to think its my injectors. He thinks I should do the same thing. I am goint to wait for a bit. He said see if it gets worse and then mess with it.
