Default Sideways at 100 MPH

That's right, no bs. Been tuning the Stage 3. I have datalogged 1 bar at 3418 revs. This is almost 400 rpm lower than my last dyno.
The data proves the wheelspin in that the rpm spikes to about 60 degrees at 4700 rpm.
Also, if anyone want hard facts about the Lindsey mild steel 3 inch - it has brought my backpressure down SEVEN pounds over a stock exhaust WITHOUT cat. I have to say at least that about that fantastic exhaust, that took me about 45 minutes to install.

John has the evil looking 4th gear logs, if he wants to post them - I don't know how.

500RWHP 8valve 2.5, here we come.

Holy CRAP!! That is fantastic! Keep up the remarkable work! I met Vitesse at Road Atlanta, he is a super cool person. I am probably getting his software this month!

SpecialTool, I knew you could bring down spoolup, you have another 100-200rpm to go. You are still running a bit rich in a few spots. Use a different cam and it'll spool even sooner. Let's see what the EBC does.

I don't recommend you try this. Wheel spin at 100mph is no FUN. The following graph shows Lambda, AFR, RPM and boost (in volts), at 3600rpm he's about 19psi!! . When the turbo comes on full boost (20+), notice how the RPM spikes. The spike starts at about 4200rpm (4th gear, 275 tires). This is probably wheel spin..

Or clutch slip? Would be nice if you had a trace of the transmission speed sensor or from the rear wheel ABS speed sensors (if you have them on your '87).

In any case, way to tune that sucker!

A clutch slip is possible, but that would not make the rear end come loose.

John, from previous posts from specialtool (when testing and then dyno results) is their and estimated time for the Stage 3? also estimated numbers at 15psi (pump gas).

C'mon guys.
If you have decent rear tires which can generate a coefficient of friction of 0.9 on dry tarmac then it will take approximately 480 rwhp to spin the rear tires at 100 mph.
You DON'T get that kind of power with a bigger turbo, a MAF and a 3" inch exhaust. Not at 20 psi boost anyway.

Tomas, SpecialTool was running about 23-24psi boost. Again this was while he was having fun (he calls it tuning). I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS!! Anything over 18-20psi on race gas, traction will be a limiting factor.

On the track, with the old Stage 3, I was able to spin the tires (285 hoosiers) on the straight at over 70mph (too busy to watch the speedo ).

Hosrom, Stage 3 is available now. I was holding off to get all the test results (boost, back pressure, HP/TQ). I didn't want to sell a product before doing my homework. In this case, I decided to have a customer (and he was fully aware of this), do the reporting.

The car will go back to the dyno for a second base graph. Next we will use the Vitesse Stage 3 Head and see what to be gained. After that, the Vitesse Intake manifold goes on to see if any gain.. I always take the approach of "what you see is what you get".

SpecialTool is not benefiting from any of this (except for having fun). He pays for the products/services like everyone else.

Actually, Tomas...It isnt HP that breaks the tires loose... Its Torque.

Be careful out there... some guy blew by me yesterday on a bridge going maybe 80 or 90 and lost traction when a van just nicked his rear bumber changing lanes. He spun against the center divide -- the initial impact was hard enough to give me a clear view of his under-carraige. It's amazing how much violence and energy is hiding in a car at that speed...

I drove the speed limit the rest of the day.

with great power comes even greater responsiblity.

Congrats on the results, it must be exciting for both of you!

I've found the balance **** on the Profec B can help the traction issue. By letting the boost roll on a bit more gently, you can run more boost before having a traction problem... It also allows you to add more throttle coming out of turns. I imagine that is why the factory cycling valve rolls on the boost soooo slowly.
