You know something guys, this may differ from person to person but some people take BS very personally, especially on open forums like this one.

Back to the topic now...........

I am one up on everyone here. Back when I was at Anderson Motorworks me and John put on a bet that I could take off the head in less than an hour. I got from a complete engine to a stripped head in 48 minutes on timer.

This is considering that I was purposefully trying to get it done as fast as possible. I had all the tools prepared before hand. Still, it is the current record..

Hosrom --> I would consider myself a very regular guy! Duke takes care of the team techincal planning and what not to do. I think he taught me like 90% of all my 951-knowledge in the past 5 years..

Freddy and Duke: I asked about the 'assistant' part because one or the both of you gentleman could be mechanics or own/work in a shop specialising in Porsches.

Obviously, shops/trained Porsche mechanics do most jobs faster than indivisuals like ourselves since the have access to lifts, air tools etc......

Duke, my apologies to you for posting 1.5 pages regarding something not relevant to the thread hope things are cool now.

Back when these cars were still under warranty I bet a Porsche dealer mechanic could pull a head in < 30 minutes. They were paid by the number of hours the warranty manual quoted. It didn't matter if it took them 30 minutes or 30 hours, they were getting paid for probably 4 hours of work.

I used to work for a BMW dealer in the service dept. I was the guy that submitted all of the paperwork to BMWNA for warranty work. The mechanics knew how to work the system and it became a game to them; see how many hours you could get paid for in a day. Some guys were racking up 30 hours of work per day. Crazy. Jobs that BMWNA paid 8 hours for they could do in 1.5 hours of work. Of course, they lost their asses on some jobs, but they usually came out ahead.

mochman I thought about using the hot method myself when I was on the last one. Might be something to consider in the future. I do have all new bolts in there now though so hopefully removing them next time wont be so bad
