Custom WB dispay
Hey everyone, I wanted to show you the custom wideband display i had made for me. I wanted to keep the display a little more pleasing to the eye then the version that JUST utilizes the screen, and required disasembly of the display. I contacted David at www.968engineering.com to see if he could do a quality job of what i had in mind. He was extremly helpful, so I shipped him my display, on wed, I got it back in the mail today! He even moved the switch on the side of the wideband display case to the front of the panel. Although I have not yet installed the widband yet, i put in the display, because I was dying to see how it looks in the car. Needless to say, not only am I impressed with his quality of his work, I am also very impressed by how fast he did it, and his update emails he sent me so that I know whats going on!
anyway, here are some photos.

Thanks Eyal for the kind words. I can do custom work like that for $60 each. Lots of time sculpting the opening to fit a piece of equipment other than round gauges. E-mail me for details on what it is you need to install.
Otherwise the standard round hole versions are $30.

Here is another option – I made up a bunch of these when we had a group buy. Laser cut steel with black wrinkle powder coating (they look better in real life!).
I found that if you center the display the view is blocked by the gear shift in 1st, 3rd and 5th gears. The panel includes a hole for the MBC.
$30 each and I will include shipping

The panel just wedges into the opening and is held in place by felt pads. It is quite secure. The material is 1/2" thick so it is flush with the radio and the console. The panel also has nicely radiused edges and the proper 1 degree taper on the sides to fit the opening like an OEM part.
Here is the back of Eyal's unit.

yep, no screws or anything, it fits in easy and nicely, and wont move once its in there! Pressing the button doesnt push the unit in since it rests on a couple factory peices that act as stops, and keep it secure. great design actually!

Now since everyone talks about how we can't see the gauges with the shifter in 1,3,5, I was thinking, is it possible to move the radio down to that spot and put the gauges up another 3"? That would at least HELP some to see the gauges. I would love to have the gauges somewhere that I read easy and not have anything blocking it. The other thing I am thinking about it having a mounting up above the rearview mirror or that area with a lighted display for night. The down side would be that it can't be very deep due to the windshield but that unit doesn't look deep at all. Well, if anyone thinks of doing this, let me know because I would be very interested to see what it looks like.
